Philadelphia Union add Richard Odada from Crvena Zvezda - "Can play multiple roles"
Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union have signed Kenyan national team player Richard Odada from Serbian Super liga side Crvena zvezda for €200,000. Odada has signed a contract until the end of the 2024 season with a club option for one additional season.
“Richard is a holding midfielder with positional versatility and a great potential to be a valuable contributor as we continue to develop our roster,” Philadelphia Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a club statement. “He can play multiple midfield roles as well as center-back, and he has the height, speed, and physicality we were searching for. We look forward to integrating him this year and encouraging his development for the future.”
Born in Nairobi, Odada also holds a Serbian passport after arriving in the country in 2019 to join Crvena zvezda's academy from AFC Leopards. Odada never broke into Crvena zvezda's first team and instead played 27 games on loan last season with Metalac (no goals).
