The start of the season, originally scheduled for the weekend of 12–13 March 2011, was delayed due to the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami which struck Northeastern Japan on 11 March. In total. the first six rounds of matches were postponed and inserted during the course of the year.
Located in the region with the most damages, Sony Sendai was only able to compete with the start of the second half of the season in July. Despite starting late, the club was not exempt from relegation. The league thus decided to have two tables. The first version only contains official matches and is also depicted here. The second version also recognizes the 10 points earned by Sony Sendai during the six matches originally belonging to the first half of the schedule; these matches had been repurposed as mandatory friendlies and were played on the corresponding make-up dates.
